APC Chairman Yilwatda Denies 2027 VP Speculation

APC Chairman Prof Nentawe Yilwatda denies 2027 VP rumours, says no discussion about replacing Vice President Shettima

National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Professor Nentawe Yilwatda, has dismissed claims that he is being considered as President Bola Tinubu’s running mate for the 2027 presidential election.

Yilwatda described the reports as “baseless and misleading” and rejected speculation that Vice President Kashim Shettima might be dropped.

“Not true. Nobody is discussing anything about the issue of the vice president,” he said, adding that such discussions can only occur after the party’s presidential primary has concluded.

Yilwatda explained that the selection of a vice-presidential candidate is a process that follows the primary election.

“It is after that the party and the candidate will sit down to select and nominate a running mate,” he said.

He further dismissed the rumours as attempts by opposition forces to distract the APC. “I laugh when I hear it. There is nothing like that at all. Nothing has been discussed,” Yilwatda said.
