Yilwatda Makes Bold Credible Elections Pledge at APC

APC credible elections pledge as Yilwatda promises stronger democracy and transparent party processes ahead of 2027 general elections in Nigeria

The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda assured that the ruling party will strengthen internal democracy and promote credible elections across all levels of political participation as preparations intensify ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Yilwatda made the declaration while presenting certificates of return to newly elected members of the APC National Working Committee (NWC), who emerged through affirmative votes during the party’s national convention held last month in Abuja.

APC credible elections pledge formed the centre of his remarks as he described the convention as one of the most orderly in the party’s history, noting the absence of litigation and internal disputes that have often characterised previous exercises.

He said the process reflected a renewed commitment to unity and transparency within the party, describing the outcome as a “remarkable milestone” that set a new standard for internal party democracy.

Yilwatda stated that the newly inaugurated NWC would focus on strengthening democratic institutions within the party, expanding membership, and ensuring improved coordination with stakeholders across the country.

He further emphasised that the APC credible elections pledge would guide the party’s operations going forward, adding that credible processes would be prioritised in candidate selection and internal contests.

“The convention will go down in history without a single litigation. It felt more like a carnival than a convention,” he said.

He added that the APC would remain focused on delivering results at all levels, including governorship, legislative and local government structures, while maintaining discipline and unity within its ranks.

Chairman of the Convention Coordination Committee, former Governor Aminu Masari, urged the new leadership to uphold integrity and resist internal pressures that often arise during party primaries.

He called for sustained commitment to national interest over personal ambition, stressing that the party must continue to improve on its democratic processes.
