Akwa Ibom empowerment fund of N800m launched to support non-indigenous communities and strengthen unity across the state
Akwa Ibom empowerment fund has been launched by Governor Umo Eno, who announced over N800 million has been earmarked to support non-indigenous communities in the state, including Ndi Igbo, Arewa, Yoruba, and the Niger Delta.The announcement came during the Igbo Unity Day Celebration at Ibom Hall Grounds, Uyo.

Governor Eno emphasised that the Akwa Ibom empowerment fund is part of his administration’s commitment to fostering inclusivity, unity, and economic participation for all residents, irrespective of ethnic background. He praised the Igbo community for their entrepreneurial spirit and their contribution to the state’s economy.
“The Igbo people here are part of our social fabric; they have added value through their remarkable spirit of industry and brotherhood,” Eno said, highlighting the community’s role in Akwa Ibom’s growth.
He thanked Ohaneze Ndi Igbo for honoring him as their grand patron and for supporting the 2027 re-election bids of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Senator Godswill Akpabio, and himself.
The governor pledged continued partnership with non-indigenous communities to sustain harmony, provided residents live peacefully, obey the law, and refrain from criminal activity.
Kayceey Chidiadi, President of Ohaneze Ndi Igbo, Akwa Ibom State Chapter, lauded Eno’s visionary leadership, noting that the empowerment fund and inclusion in government positions reflect his administration’s commitment to unity and peace.
