The initiative, covering all 33 local governments and 351 wards, aims to remove financial barriers that prevent qualified students from accessing tertiary education amid Nigeria’s current economic challenges.
At least 300 students in each local government will benefit, alongside free preparatory classes to boost exam success.
“Education is not a privilege for the few; it is a right and a strategic investment in our collective future,” Ajadi said.
“When we deny young people access to education because of poverty, we are also denying the state its future doctors, engineers, teachers, innovators, and leaders.”
Applicants must possess a National Identification Number (NIN) and GCE O-Level certificates.
Forms and screening will take place at PDP secretariats from January 19 to February 28, 2026.
Ajadi emphasised that selections will be transparent, first-come, first-served, and free of political, ethnic, or religious bias.
“This is not about politics; it is about people,” he said. “We want to give every willing and qualified student a fair chance.”
Ajadi framed the initiative as part of his broader “Future-Ready Generation” agenda, which prioritises education as the backbone of Oyo State’s development.
His manifesto includes free and compulsory basic education, teacher retraining and welfare upgrades, digital classrooms, smart schools, technical and vocational education (TVET) reforms, and university–industry partnerships.
Parents and guardians have welcomed the programme, citing relief amid rising education costs.
“At a time of economic hardship, helping parents educate their children is one of the most impactful forms of empowerment,” Ajadi said.

Observers note that the education-focused interventions position Ajadi as a governorship contender with a campaign rooted in human capital development, with long-term goals of producing employable, innovative, and globally competitive graduates.
