Adebisi 2027 bid gains momentum as the DLA presidential candidate says he is prepared to defeat Bola Tinubu in Nigeria’s 2027 election
United States-based businessman and Democratic Leadership Alliance presidential candidate Moses Adebisi on Thursday, August 27, 2026, declared on Arise Television’s Morning Show that he is the right candidate to defeat President Bola Tinubu in Nigeria’s 2027 presidential election.

Adebisi, who recently emerged as the DLA’s presidential candidate, said his ambition was driven by concerns about hardship and what he described as the oppression of ordinary Nigerians.
The candidate said his time in the United States had prompted questions about whether he could meaningfully contribute to solving Nigeria’s problems from abroad.
“People beckon on me that you can’t stay in America and think you’re solving Nigeria’s problem,” Adebisi said.
He explained that the concerns pushed him to study the factors that influence political emergence and electoral success, as he sought to develop what he considers a practical approach to governing Nigeria.
Adebisi said his search for workable economic ideas also took him to China, where he examined the country’s economic reforms dating from 1978.
He said he visited Beijing and Shanghai to understand how China moved from a largely peasant economy towards becoming a major global economic power.
The DLA candidate also said he studied the United States’ Liberty Agenda of 1774 as part of his effort to develop a political and economic blueprint for Nigeria.
Those experiences, Adebisi argued, have strengthened his confidence that he can offer Nigerians a different direction.
“I’m the right man for the job. And I’m the one that will defeat Tinubu this 2027,” he declared.
His comments come as political activity around the 2027 election gathers pace, with parties and candidates increasingly positioning themselves ahead of the presidential contest.
Adebisi’s emergence followed a change within the DLA. Barrister Samuel Memeh, who had earlier emerged as the party’s consensus presidential candidate, withdrew from the race, paving the way for Adebisi’s candidacy through a substitution primary in August.
The DLA is one of Nigeria’s newer political parties. The Independent National Electoral Commission lists the Democratic Leadership Alliance among the country’s registered political parties, with Barrister Samuel M. Memeh as acting national chairman.
The party has presented itself as a platform centred on ethical leadership, institutional reform, economic inclusion, science and technology and broader national development.
The party’s decision to replace Memeh with Adebisi has added another dimension to its preparations for the 2027 election, particularly because Adebisi is based in the United States and has framed his international experience as part of his political appeal.
His challenge, however, will extend beyond making a strong declaration.
Nigeria’s presidential contest is traditionally dominated by major political parties with established structures, extensive grassroots networks and significant financial resources.
Tinubu, the incumbent president and candidate of the All Progressives Congress, will also enter the contest with the advantages that come with holding the presidency and leading a major national political organisation.
Adebisi is nevertheless seeking to appeal to Nigerians who are dissatisfied with the direction of the country, particularly younger voters.
He urged young Nigerians to become actively involved in the political process rather than remaining on the sidelines.
“Nigerian people, come up now. The youths, come up now. Let’s go,” he said.
His message reflects a broader effort by emerging presidential candidates to frame the 2027 contest around leadership, economic opportunity and the future of Nigeria’s large youth population.
For Adebisi, the coming months will provide the more demanding test. His international experience and economic ideas will need to be translated into a convincing political programme, while the DLA will have to build sufficient support across Nigeria’s diverse electorate.

The Adebisi 2027 bid is therefore still at an early stage, but his latest declaration makes his ambition unmistakable: he intends to turn his newly secured DLA candidacy into a serious challenge to Tinubu at the presidential polls.
