Femi Aina re-elected Ogun NNPP chairman

Femi Aina has been re-elected Ogun NNPP chairman, pledging unity and mass mobilisation as the party prepares for the 2027 elections

The Ogun State Chairman of the New Nigeria People’s Party, Femi Aina, has been returned for another four-year term following the party’s state congress held at its secretariat in Adatan, Abeokuta.

Aina was re-elected alongside other executives during a congress supervised by the Chairman of the Organising Committee, Professor Tajudeen Gambo, the committee secretary, Abdullahi Dogonnama, as well as members Alhaji Ibrahim Sai Kure and Alhaji Hamza Masu.

Officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission and security personnel also monitored the exercise.

In his acceptance speech, Aina described his re-election as the beginning of a new phase for the party in Ogun State.

He pledged to deepen unity within the party and ensure inclusive representation across different groups as preparations intensify for the 2027 elections.

Aina said the state chapter would embark on large-scale mobilisation, adding that every bloc within the NNPP, including the Kwa Kwa Siya movement and the women’s wing, would have a strong voice in decision-making.

He criticised the ruling All Progressives Congress, saying Nigerians had endured hardship under its administration and needed what he described as a rescue mission.

He thanked delegates for their confidence in the new leadership and promised to strengthen internal democracy, fairness and good governance within the party.

Other elected officers include Alhaja Sakirat Arowolo as Deputy Chairman, Honourable Rasaq Segun Sofowora as Secretary and Mrs Yetunde Akindele as Women Leader.

Earlier, Professor Gambo praised the steadfastness of NNPP members in the state despite recent challenges.

He urged the new executive to intensify efforts to build the party ahead of the next general elections, stating that the NNPP aims to take over governance at all levels in 2027.

Gambo criticised the APC-led Federal Government for what he described as policies that fail to address the needs of ordinary Nigerians.

He reiterated the party’s commitment to free education and its ambition to lead a nationwide political shift in 2027.

Opposition parties have continued to fault the APC administration over economic hardship, fuel subsidy removal and rising insecurity, insisting that large-scale mobilisation will be central to their efforts to unseat the ruling party in the next electoral cycle.
