Okojie Lauds Okpebholo’s Leadership in Edo Revival

Prince Odi Okojie praises Governor Monday Okpebholo’s reforms and outlines constituency achievements driving the Edo Revival

Honourable Prince Odi Okojie, the lawmaker representing Esan North East and Esan South East Federal Constituency, said in Abuja on Monday that Governor Monday Okpebholo’s leadership has ignited an Edo Revival marked by rising security, new infrastructure and renewed public confidence.

He spoke during an interview in which he reflected on his political evolution and the principles guiding his work.

Prince Okojie, who served as Edo Central Director General for Governor Okpebholo’s 2024 campaign, said the election was transformed by unprecedented grassroots mobilisation across Esan communities.

He described the effort as a people-driven response to years of stalled development, noting that town halls and village markets became rallying points for voters seeking credible leadership.

He said Governor Okpebholo’s performance has exceeded expectations, pointing to reductions in kidnapping and farm-related crime, ongoing hospital upgrades and the employment of nearly 10,000 teachers.

He added that new roads and flyovers have opened economic access for rural areas, while tourism and agriculture have regained momentum.

According to him, the governor’s humility, integrity and listening leadership have restored dignity to vulnerable residents.

With local and national elections approaching, Prince Okojie said he is preparing an intensive campaign strategy anchored on digital mobilisation, evidence-based messaging and large community gatherings.

He said rising GDP indicators, falling unemployment and visible development are compelling arguments for continuity, asserting that Edo is moving forward under Governor Okpebholo’s stewardship.

Prince Okojie, who chairs the House Committee on Petroleum Resources (Midstream), said his support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s economic reforms is driven by conviction and national interest.

He acknowledged that the removal of fuel subsidy created hardship but maintained that long-term reforms are necessary for sustainable investment in education, health and infrastructure.

He said his committee is ensuring savings are directed towards refinery rehabilitation, pipeline upgrades and host-community development.

To constituents concerned about economic strain, he said relief initiatives are being expanded and his constituency programmes in education, agriculture, youth development and healthcare remain active.

He urged residents to embrace engagement and accountability as tools for progress.

Looking ahead, Prince Okojie outlined his ‘Esan Ascendancy’ agenda, which seeks greater federal presence, stronger empowerment schemes and more legislative interventions.

He advised young politicians to approach public service with purpose rather than entitlement, stressing that politics requires negotiation, empathy and a clear understanding of local challenges.

Reviewing his achievements in the National Assembly, he said more than 5,000 youths and widows have benefited from empowerment initiatives.

He highlighted training in technical and vocational skills, road construction, security support and the distribution of income-generating tools such as vehicles, tricycles and deep freezers.

He also cited the construction of General Hospital Road in Uromi and the solar-powered Operation Light Up Agbazilo initiative, which has restored safety and night-time activity in communities previously in darkness.

Prince Okojie said these interventions are not symbolic gestures but substantial improvements that demonstrate his commitment to effective, measurable and people-centred representation.
