The committee, chaired by Barrister Obinna Uzor, submitted its findings to the party’s Organisation Department on Friday, confirming that only Hon Mulikat Adeola Jimoh and Asiwaju Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji met all regulatory conditions set by the APC Constitution, party guidelines and the Electoral Act.
Those disqualified include former deputy governor and APC National Secretary Senator Iyiola Omisore, immediate past deputy governor Benedict Olugboyega Alabi, Dotun Babayemi, Akin Ogunbiyi, Senator Babajide Omoworare, Kunle Adegoke (SAN) and Babatunde Haketer Oralusi.
According to the six-page report signed by all seven committee members, the process was triggered by a petition from the Osun APC Renewal Group, which alleged that two aspirants failed to meet mandatory nominator requirements.
The committee said the claims were weighty and directly relevant to the integrity of the screening exercise.
To ensure fairness, the panel extended the same scrutiny to all nine aspirants, examining each sponsor’s compliance with Articles 9.3(i) and 31.2(ii) of the APC Constitution and Paragraph 6(c) of the party’s guidelines.
The report stated that this decision preserved internal party democracy and guaranteed a level playing field.
The committee found that Jimoh and Oyebamiji secured the requisite number of fully registered and financially up-to-date party members from each Local Government Area as nominators.
In contrast, the seven disqualified aspirants failed to obtain sponsorship from at least five compliant party members per Local Government Area.
