Senate committee reshuffle announced by President Akpabio assigns new chairpersons to National Security, Planning, Livestock, and Air Force committees
The Senate Selection Committee on Tuesday announced a Senate committee reshuffle, reconstituting several standing committees of the 10th Senate.

The announcement was made by Senate President and Committee Chairman Godswill Akpabio during plenary on the floor of the Red Chamber.
Senator Yahaya Abdullahi of Kebbi State has been appointed chairman of the Senate Committee on National Security and Intelligence. Until the reshuffle, Abdullahi chaired the Committee on National Planning.
Senator Shehu Buba from Bauchi State now leads the Senate Committee on Livestock and Animal Husbandry, following his removal last week as chairman of the Committee on National Security and Intelligence.
Senator Mustafa Musa of Yobe State assumes leadership of the Committee on National Planning.
Additionally, the Senate Committee on Air Force will be chaired by Minority Whip Senator Osita Ngwu from Enugu State, who takes the position in an acting capacity.
Ngwu previously served as deputy chairman of the committee, formerly led by Senator Godiya Akwashiki, who is currently indisposed.
The reshuffle aims to enhance legislative efficiency and ensure continuity in the oversight of critical sectors, including national security, agriculture, and defence.

Lawmakers described the changes as timely and necessary to strengthen the operational effectiveness of Senate committees.
