PDP urges Tinubu to act on insecurity or resign

PDP demands President Tinubu seek help or resign over insecurity, warning that school closures cannot address Nigeria’s worsening security crisis.

Abuja, Nigeria, 24 November 2025 — The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has called on President Bola Tinubu to seek local and international support to tackle Nigeria’s escalating insecurity or resign honourably.

Fractional National Publicity Secretary Ini Ememobong made the demand in a statement on Sunday, warning that government inaction is worsening the crisis.

The PDP criticised what it described as simplistic measures, such as closing schools, in response to kidnappings in Northern Nigeria.

The party said these actions merely serve as temporary fixes and risk achieving terrorists’ goals of preventing children from accessing education.

“Each wave of kidnappings leaves a trail of sorrow, fear, and anguish on families and communities.

Quick-fix measures by this administration will amount to surrender to terrorists,” the statement read.

The PDP urged the federal government to fund and implement the National Policy on Safety, Security and Violence-Free Schools, which relies on community intelligence and rapid security responses.

The statement further reminded President Tinubu that protecting lives and property is the fundamental duty of government, adding that failure to act responsibly should compel a leader either to seek assistance or step down.
