“Kano Sees 774 NNPP Members Join APC, Bolstering Party Strength”

774 NNPP members join APC in Kano, citing government projects and economic initiatives as reasons for the political shift.

Kano, Nigeria, 24 November 2025 — The Managing Director of the Hadejia‑Jam’are River Basin Development Authority, Alhaji Rabiu Bichi, on Friday received 774 former members of the New Nigeria People’s Party who defected to the All Progressives Congress in Rimin Gado Local Government Area.

Bichi described the defectors as “lucky” for making what he called the right political decision and reaffirmed that the APC remains the party capable of delivering meaningful national development.

Citing President Bola Tinubu’s projects in the Northern region, Bichi highlighted more than 18 major initiatives completed in Kano State alone, valued at billions of Naira.

He added that substantial funds were being released to state governments for development, although he lamented that some states allegedly diverted resources to other sectors.

Bichi also pointed to the APC’s Renewed Hope Agenda, which he said was producing positive outcomes, including economic recovery and strengthened food security through various agricultural programmes.

He assured the defectors they would be fully integrated and treated as long-standing APC members.

Mohammad Karofin-Yashi, leader of the defectors, said their decision to join the APC was motivated by the administration’s notable development initiatives.

He added that the party’s vision convinced them it would move Kano and the nation to greater heights.
