Governor Umo Eno urges appointees and stakeholders to prioritise positive grassroots empowerment and improve roads and security lighting across Akwa Ibom.
Eket, Akwa Ibom, 24 November 2025 — Governor Umo Eno of Akwa Ibom State has directed all appointees, contractors, and stakeholders to prioritise positive grassroots empowerment to foster a more equitable and prosperous society.

Speaking at a special Sunday Service at the All Nations Christian Ministry International in Eket, Governor Eno stressed that the recent statewide Ward meetings of the All Progressives Congress aimed to bring governance closer to the people.
Governor Eno commended local government chairmen and other stakeholders for coordinating the meetings effectively, ensuring productive outcomes that reflect the administration’s commitment to citizen engagement.
He urged beneficiaries of government initiatives to extend the benefits to people in their villages, emphasising the importance of shared development.
“The same grassroots meetings of the party will be repeated next month to consolidate stronger membership, loyalty, and sustain the people’s sense of belonging and confidence in our governance,” the governor said.
Highlighting infrastructure plans, Governor Eno reassured residents that failed road portions across the state would be promptly repaired once the rainy season ends.
He appealed to citizens in Uyo, the state capital, and other areas to exercise patience as remedial interventions are prepared.
In a related announcement, Governor Eno revealed that roads and streets in Uyo Metropolis and surrounding areas will soon be equipped with solar-powered lighting
He said the initiative aims to enhance the city’s status as a tourist destination while improving security and visibility for residents.
