The development was confirmed in a statement released on Wednesday by Balarabe Kiru, the Director of Public Enlightenment at the Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development.
According to Kiru, the defectors — led by APC woman leader Hajiya Sabuwa Tarai — cited the numerous development projects and welfare programmes implemented by Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf’s administration as their reason for switching allegiance.
“We are impressed by the numerous projects executed by Governor Yusuf at the local government and state level,” Tarai said, expressing confidence in the NNPP’s commitment to community development.
Welcoming the new members, Adamu A Kibiya assured them of fair and equal treatment within the NNPP, urging them to work collectively to advance the party’s ideals and strengthen its grassroots base.
