Ex-Agitator Amagbein Hails Tinubu Over New Service Chiefs

Niger Delta ex-agitator Endurance Amagbein hails President Tinubu’s appointment of new service chiefs, urging fairness and renewed investigation into Okuama killings.

A former Niger Delta agitator, Mr Endurance Amagbein, has commended President Bola Tinubu for appointing new service chiefs, describing the move as a strategic step to in a statement issued in Abuja on Monday, Amagbein — popularly known as Adaka Boro the Second — said the president’s decision reflected a commitment to strengthening national security and restoring the military’s efficiency.

He said he had full confidence in the Tinubu-led administration, expressing optimism that the new service chiefs would reposition the armed forces for greater operational excellence.

“I congratulate the new Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), General Olufemi Oluyede; Chief of Army Staff, Major-General W. Shaibu; Chief of Air Staff, Air Vice Marshal S.K. Aneke; and Chief of Naval Staff, Rear Admiral Iddi Abbas, for their emergence,” he stated.

Amagbein described the appointees as professionals with proven track records, noting that their combined experience would enhance the country’s global military reputation.

The ex-agitator urged the Chief of Defence Staff, General Oluyede, to reopen investigations into the Okuama incident in Delta State, where several soldiers were killed earlier in the year.

“Since the killing, no one has faced prosecution despite mass arrests and detentions,” he lamented.

He stressed the need for stronger collaboration between the armed forces and Niger Delta stakeholders, whose peace-building efforts, he said, had contributed to regional stability.

Amagbein also appealed to the new service chiefs to avoid partisan politics, noting that neutrality would preserve the military’s credibility and ensure effective national security.

He pledged to support President Tinubu’s administration and urged other Niger Delta leaders to do the same for the sake of peace and development.

“I know the integrity and track record of the newly appointed service chiefs, especially Rear Admiral Iddi Abbas, who was once Flag Officer Commanding, Central Naval Command. I am confident that the nation’s security is in safe hands,” Amagbein said.

He prayed for God’s wisdom, courage, and strength for the new military leaders as they take on their responsibilities.
