Monday Okpebholo Swears In 19 Commissioners, Warns Against

Monday Okpebholo swears in commissioners as part of his ongoing efforts to reposition Edo State for sustainable development.

At a ceremony held at Government House in Benin City on Tuesday, the governor inaugurated 19 commissioners and several board appointees, firmly stating that their appointments are calls to duty, not rewards for loyalty.

In a statement released by his Chief Press Secretary, Fred Itua, Governor Okpebholo emphasised that all appointments were made strictly on merit.

He stressed that his administration is anchored on practical governance and not political propaganda.

“Your nominations did not come as a reward or patronage but as a call to serve the people of Edo State,” the governor said.

“This administration came into office on the promise of practical governance to touch the lives of our people directly.”

He reiterated his administration’s zero tolerance for corruption, reminding the new appointees that they are expected to lead with integrity, discipline, and a shared purpose.

“You are not here for money-making but for service, for sacrifice, and for a better life for Edo people. History will judge us not by our intentions but by our actions,” Okpebholo stated.

With this new batch of commissioners, the total number appointed under his leadership has now reached 29.

Speaking on behalf of the newly sworn-in officials, Ebea Odianonsen thanked the governor for the confidence reposed in them.

He pledged their unwavering loyalty to the administration’s vision and assured that they would work collectively to deliver on key development promises.
