Ndume Urges Tinubu to Prioritize North-East in 2025 Budget

Ndume Tinubu North-East Budget: Senator urges President Tinubu to prioritize urgent infrastructure in 2025 and 2026 for the neglected region

Ndume Tinubu North-East Budget calls are gaining traction as Senator Ali Ndume on Friday urged President Bola Tinubu to urgently allocate special projects for the insurgency-ravaged region in the 2025 supplementary and 2026 main budgets.

Speaking in Abuja, the former Senate Leader emphasized that the North-East risks being permanently left behind if the Federal Government fails to act swiftly.

According to him, the region has seen no meaningful infrastructure progress in over 15 years due to persistent insecurity caused by Boko Haram and related insurgencies.

“Fifteen years down the line, there hasn’t been any meaningful infrastructural development in the North-East as it has been ravaged by the insurgents,” Ndume said.

“Now that insurgents have receded due to efforts by our military, contractors can now move to sites.”

The Ndume Tinubu North-East Budget appeal followed a strategic meeting on Wednesday between President Tinubu and all six North-East governors, led by Borno State Governor Babagana Zulum.

The governors presented a detailed list of over 17 critical but long-abandoned federal road projects, including the Kano-Maiduguri Road, Bama-Mubi-Yola Road, and the Port Harcourt-Jos-Bauchi-Maiduguri Railway.

Ndume praised the governors for their unified advocacy and reiterated that the North-East deserves special federal attention after suffering over a decade of conflict-driven neglect.

He stressed that the region’s rehabilitation must go beyond words and become a cornerstone of national development planning.

He also urged North-East governors to continue pressing the Federal Government while developing people-centered policies that uplift communities and rebuild livelihoods.
