Tinubu’s Recall of NTA DG Sparks Optimism in Media Sector

Tinubu recalls NTA DG Salihu Abdullahi Dembos, reversing recent changes at NTA and reinstating Ayo Adewuyi as Executive Director of News

Tinubu recalls NTA DG in what many observers are calling a surprising and decisive reversal of recent management changes at the Nigerian Television Authority (NTA).

President Bola Tinubu has ordered the reinstatement of Salihu Abdullahi Dembos as Director-General of the NTA.

Dembos, first appointed by Tinubu in October 2023, had briefly vacated the post after new appointments were announced.

The President also directed the recall of Ayo Adewuyi, the Executive Director of News, instructing him to serve out his tenure until 2027. Adewuyi, a trusted media administrator, was appointed in 2024.

This move effectively nullifies the earlier appointments of Rotimi Pedro as DG, Stella Din as Executive Director of News, and other executives, including those tapped for marketing and NTA Enterprises.

In a statement signed by Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, the presidency confirmed that the new directive stands as the authoritative order.

Analysts suggest the recall demonstrates Tinubu’s determination to maintain stability and experienced leadership within the NTA at a time of sensitive transitions.

The decision, seen as a power move, underscores the President’s ability to act decisively in reshaping Nigeria’s media landscape.
