Speaking in Kaduna while welcoming a group of defectors from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) into the African Democratic Congress (ADC), El-Rufai emphasized that his renewed political involvement was rooted in mentorship, not ambition.

“I am not contesting for anything. I don’t want to go to the Senate. I am not seeking any position,” he stated.

El-Rufai, who also served as Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, said he had intended to retire from partisan politics after completing his gubernatorial tenure in 2023.

However, he cited ongoing national challenges as a key reason for returning to active politics.

“When I finished my tenure as governor, I intended to rest. But given the way things have turned out, I believe we must play our part to bring about better leadership. That is why we are back in politics.”

🎯 Focus Now on Mentorship and Reforms

Instead of pursuing office, El-Rufai revealed his focus will be on mentoring young people, women, and reform-driven Nigerians to lead a new wave of transformative governance.

He urged Nigerian youth to take advantage of the ongoing voter registration exercise, emphasizing their power to influence the political future of the country.
