Osun State Security Funding Policy gets Adeleke’s Pledge

Osun State security funding policy: Governor Adeleke vows no slush funds, stressing all security spending follows due process and budgetary approval

The Osun State security funding policy has been reinforced by Governor Ademola Adeleke, who has vowed to fund all security operations strictly through the budgetary process, rejecting the traditional “security vote” model.

In a statement on Friday by his spokesperson, Olawale Rasheed, Adeleke stressed that Osun does not keep a slush fund for security expenses.

Instead, every security-related cost — from operational support for agencies to crisis resolution and peace-building — passes through statutory approval and public finance procedures.

“I am proud to declare that the Osun State Government under my watch does not operate a slush fund,” Adeleke said, noting that while he has faced resistance over this stance, he remains committed to financial transparency.

The governor said the policy was shaped by the fiscal realities he encountered in November 2022, prompting a focus on directing resources toward infrastructure, agriculture, health, and the timely payment of salaries and pensions.

He added that a special project account has been created to safeguard surplus FAAC inflows for infrastructure completion.

Adeleke reaffirmed his administration’s dedication to balancing human and capital development, highlighting achievements over the past three years that have been verified by both local and national stakeholders.
