Peter Obi’s PDP Return Would Defeat Any Northern Candidate, Says Jerry Gana

Peter Obi’s PDP return could shift Nigeria’s political landscape in 2027, says ex-Information Minister Jerry Gana

Peter Obi’s PDP return could be the political masterstroke the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) needs to reclaim power in 2027, according to former Minister of Information, Professor Jerry Gana.

In a recent appearance on Arise TV, Gana boldly declared that if Obi returns to the PDP, he would defeat any Northern candidate in the next presidential election.

Gana described the former Anambra State governor as a unifying figure with mass appeal and emphasized that the PDP’s grassroots structure would only amplify his reach.

“We are reaching out to Peter Obi,” Gana confirmed, revealing he leads a team scouting for a strong flagbearer.

“Obi may be good, but we are still searching for the best. If he returns, he can win across the North.”

Gana admitted the PDP mishandled Obi’s 2022 exit, calling it a missed opportunity.

“If I were Atiku, I would have made Obi vice-president. That would’ve changed everything,” he added.

He maintained that the recent party crises are elite-level issues and don’t reflect the strength of PDP’s support base across Nigeria.

“The PDP is a grassroots party. The people are still with us,” Gana said with conviction.

Obi, who ran under the Labour Party in 2023, has been seen in political consultations that fuel speculation about his next move.
