According to Minister of Information and National Orientation, Alhaji Mohammed Idris, the administration remains undeterred and firmly focused on delivering national progress.
In a statement issued on Tuesday in Abuja, Idris addressed concerns raised by the emergence of new political coalitions.
He reaffirmed that President Tinubu’s administration is anchored in delivering meaningful reforms and long-term economic growth.
“Tinubu administration remains focused,” Idris said. “The government will not be sidetracked by politicking or political distractions.”
The minister stated that while citizens have the right to freedom of expression and political association, the administration is concentrating on its Renewed Hope agenda, which aims to transform the country’s economic and social landscape.
“The clamour in the media about the emergence of a new political ‘coalition’ is understandable,” he noted. “But Nigerians entrusted President Tinubu with a bold and transformative mandate.”
Highlighting what he described as tangible progress, Idris pointed to improvements in several key sectors.
He said crude oil theft has dropped significantly, investor confidence is returning, inflation is easing, and the Naira is becoming more stable.
According to him, government programmes are already benefiting millions across the country.
These include student loan schemes, access to consumer credit for artisans and small businesses, and significant strides in national security.
“Security challenges are being confronted head-on,” he said. “Millions of Nigerians—households, students, artisans, small business owners—are benefitting from initiatives such as student loans and access to consumer credit.”
He also cited the expansion of Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) vehicle conversions and improved infrastructure as part of the administration’s successes.
Two weeks ago, President Tinubu signed into law four tax reform bills, described by Idris as among the most ambitious fiscal changes in Nigeria’s history.
These reforms, expected to be implemented from 2026, aim to enhance national prosperity and ease the financial burden on both individuals and businesses.
Additionally, the Renewed Hope Agricultural Mechanisation Programme was recently launched. It is described as the most extensive agricultural initiative of its kind in Nigeria’s history.
“This is just one of several high-impact agricultural mechanisation programmes being undertaken to guarantee food security,” Idris said.
While acknowledging growing political movements and emerging alliances, the minister dismissed suggestions that the administration is losing focus.
“The aim of many of these political groupings is to derail attention from the significant strides we are making,” he claimed.
“But we will not allow distractions engineered by those who would prefer stagnation over reform.”
He added that the administration remains committed to its promises and that the results speak for themselves.
“Just look around,” he said. “The evidence is glaring. From tax reforms to agriculture and credit access, the Tinubu administration remains focused on delivering what it promised Nigerians.”
Analysts say the government’s stance is an attempt to reframe national discourse ahead of the next election cycle.
Still, many are watching to see whether the administration can sustain its claimed momentum amid rising political tension.
