Okorocha Accuses Uzodinma of Seeking Lawan’s VP Ticket in 2022

Rochas Okorocha alleges that Hope Uzodinma sought Ahmad Lawan’s VP ticket in 2022 and challenges him to accept the APC senatorial primary result

Former Imo State Governor, Rochas Okorocha, has accused Governor Hope Uzodinma of seeking to become the running mate to former Senate President, Ahmad Lawan, during the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential primary in 2022.

Okorocha made the allegation on Thursday during an appearance on Channels Television, hours after he was declared the winner of the APC primary for the Imo West Senatorial District ahead of the 2027 general election.

The former governor claimed that Uzodinma had ambitions to occupy several political positions, including the office of the vice-president.

“Hope wants to be everything,” Okorocha said, alleging that the Imo governor had wanted to emerge as Lawan’s running mate during the APC presidential contest.

He also questioned Uzodinma’s leadership and representation of Imo State, claiming that residents were dissatisfied with his administration.

Okorocha further criticised the governor’s handling of insecurity, alleging that violence had increased in the state under his leadership.

Comparing the situation with his own tenure as governor, Okorocha claimed that he had managed similar security challenges without bloodshed.

The former governor also urged Uzodinma to accept the outcome of the APC senatorial primary instead of pursuing an appeal against the result.

“If I were him, let him forget going to appeal. Let him just accept this in good faith because he did not win an election,” he said.

Okorocha argued that the outcome should not be overturned through what he described as an attempt by an individual to manipulate the electoral process.

He maintained that his decision to speak out was intended to challenge what he considers poor leadership and questionable political activities under Uzodinma’s administration.
