Osun poll APC rally draws Akpabio, Uzodimma and other party leaders to Osogbo as Bola Oyebamiji makes his final campaign push
Senate President Godswill Akpabio, Imo State Governor Hope Uzodimma and other senior All Progressives Congress leaders arrived in Osogbo, Osun State, on Thursday, August 13, 2026, for the party’s final mega rally ahead of Saturday’s governorship election.

The rally marks the final day of the official campaign period and is designed to strengthen support for APC governorship candidate Bola Oyebamiji before voters head to the polls on August 15.
Other senior APC figures at the event include Edo State Governor Monday Okpebholo, Kogi State Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo, Ondo State Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa and Lagos-based federal lawmaker James Faleke.
The gathering represents a major show of political strength by the ruling party as the campaign enters its decisive stage.
APC supporters and campaign coordinators from across Osun’s 30 local government areas are expected to participate in the mobilisation exercise, with party leaders seeking to consolidate support for Oyebamiji.
The Independent National Electoral Commission had fixed Thursday, August 13, as the final day for campaigns after moving the governorship election from August 8 to August 15.
Oyebamiji emerged as the APC candidate after the party’s governorship primary in Osogbo and is facing incumbent Governor Ademola Adeleke, alongside candidates from the African Democratic Congress, People’s Redemption Party and other parties.
The Osun poll APC rally comes against a backdrop of heightened political tension in the state in the final weeks before voting.
Opposition parties have raised concerns over alleged political intimidation and the use of federal institutions in the run-up to the election, allegations the APC has rejected.
The Accord Party, in particular, has accused the APC of using federal influence to pressure opposition groups.
The accusations have contributed to an increasingly charged political atmosphere as the election approaches.
Another major development came last week when the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission froze the Osun State Government’s account.
The move triggered a political dispute, with the state government raising concerns about the timing of the action ahead of the election.
President Bola Tinubu subsequently directed the EFCC to unfreeze the account.
The intervention added another layer to an already closely watched contest, with the major parties accusing one another of political manoeuvring.
For the APC, however, Thursday’s rally is primarily about its final appeal to voters.
Akpabio and the governors’ presence gives the event additional political weight as the party seeks to project unity behind Oyebamiji and demonstrate the strength of its national structure.
The election will ultimately determine whether Adeleke retains control of Osun or whether the APC can return to power in the state.

With campaigning now officially ending, attention will shift from rallies and political messaging to voting, security and the conduct of the electoral process on Saturday.
