Mustapha announced his resignation in a letter dated July 5, 2026, addressed to the ADC Ward Chairman of Magaji B Ward in Jega Local Government Area, saying the decision followed extensive consultations with his supporters, political stakeholders and associates across the constituency.
Explaining his move, Mustapha said joining the APC reflected his commitment to the development of the constituency and his belief that the ruling party provides a more effective platform to pursue his political vision.
He also thanked the ADC for the opportunity to serve under its platform and expressed appreciation to party members for their support during his time in the opposition party.
The former ADC aspirant, who is an ally of former Attorney General of the Federation Abubakar Malami, was formally received into the APC by Kebbi State Governor Nasir Idris at the Government House in Birnin Kebbi.
Thousands of his supporters also defected alongside him, underscoring the latest shift in the state’s political landscape ahead of the 2027 general elections.
