ADC Submits Atiku, Amaechi Names on INEC Portal

ADC submits Atiku and Amaechi names on INEC portal ahead of 2027 elections, marking a key step in the party’s presidential campaign preparations

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) on Tuesday, 1 July 2026, confirmed the submission of its presidential ticket details to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), as the party formally uploaded the names of its presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, and his running mate, Rotimi Amaechi, on the official nomination portal ahead of the 2027 general elections in Nigeria.

The party described the submission as a significant milestone in its early preparations for the upcoming polls, signalling a structured push to position itself as a competitive alternative in the national political space.

ADC National Publicity Secretary, Bolaji Abdullahi, announced the development via his Facebook page, describing the move as part of the party’s broader ambition to present what he called a credible option for national renewal.

“We are pleased to announce that we have successfully uploaded the names and particulars of the African Democratic Congress Presidential Candidate, Atiku Abubakar (GCON), and our Vice Presidential Candidate, Rt Hon Chibuike R Amaechi (CON), to the nomination portal of INEC Nigeria,” Abdullahi said.

He added that the action marked an important step in the party’s journey towards the 2027 elections, stressing that the ADC remains committed to competence, unity and national development as its guiding principles.

The submission follows the emergence of Atiku Abubakar as the party’s presidential candidate after a competitive primary election in which he defeated former Transport Minister Rotimi Amaechi and Mohammed Hayatu-Deen.

Following the conclusion of the primaries, the ADC formally confirmed Amaechi as the party’s vice-presidential candidate, completing what analysts describe as a high-profile ticket ahead of the next electoral cycle.

Party insiders say the pairing reflects a strategic attempt to consolidate experience and national appeal as the ADC seeks to reposition itself within Nigeria’s evolving political landscape.

The development adds early momentum to preparations for the 2027 elections, with parties gradually activating their structures well ahead of INEC timelines and intensifying behind-the-scenes political mobilisation.
