Aisha Yesufu Blasts Dickson, Says NDC May Lose 2027 Election

Aisha Yesufu criticises NDC leader Seriake Dickson, warning that internal disputes and poor crisis handling could cost the party the 2027 election

Political activist and chieftain of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), Aisha Yesufu, has criticised the party’s National Leader, Senator Seriake Dickson, over his handling of post-primary tensions, warning that internal disagreements could cost the party the 2027 general election.

Yesufu made the remarks in a strongly worded statement on Thursday, accusing Dickson of failing to pacify aggrieved aspirants and unify supporters following the party’s disputed primaries.

She said the former Bayelsa State governor missed an opportunity to reassure members and instead appeared to deepen divisions within the young political platform.

According to her, Dickson should have used recent public engagements to project unity and strengthen confidence in the NDC’s electoral prospects.

“This part of the interview was so painfully appalling to watch. It looked as if you were insecure and in competition with your presidential candidate,” she said.

Yesufu further alleged that the party leadership treated the NDC like a temporary political arrangement rather than a serious platform preparing to win elections.

She also recalled her own experiences during the party’s candidate selection process, stating that she had to personally engage and calm supporters who were dissatisfied with the outcome of the primaries.

The activist stressed that leadership required reconciliation and emotional intelligence, especially in moments of internal conflict.

“As a leader of a political party, your number one job was to pacify aspirants and call on supporters to bear with the party,” she said.

Yesufu maintained that no one was challenging Dickson’s position within the party but urged him to focus on strengthening unity ahead of the 2027 polls.

She warned that unresolved grievances and poor communication could weaken the party’s chances against its political rivals.
