Dickson Obi NDC Platform Claim as Seriake Dickson says NDC gave Peter Obi and Kwankwaso political platform ahead of 2027 elections
National Leader of the Nigeria Democratic Congress, Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), Seriake Dickson, has said the party granted its presidential candidate, Peter Obi, a political platform and did the opposition figure a favour by accommodating his presidential ambition ahead of the 2027 general election.

Claim over Dickson Obi NDC platform role was made during an interview on Arise Television on Wednesday, where the former Bayelsa State governor emphasised that the NDC should not be seen as benefiting from the entry of high-profile politicians into its ranks.
According to him, the party remains the structure providing a pathway for Obi and his running mate, Rabi’u Kwankwaso, to contest the 2027 presidential election, describing the arrangement as a strategic political alliance rather than a favour extended to the party.
Dickson stated that no individual is doing the NDC a favour by joining it, insisting that the party leadership has previously attracted prominent political figures from across the country even before the arrival of Obi and Kwankwaso.
He argued that the narrative around the alliance needed correction, warning against what he described as contradictory messaging from supporters who back the candidates while criticising the party leadership.
“No one is doing NDC a favour, rather my colleagues and I are doing people a favour by granting our platform to them,” Dickson said.
He further noted that the party had previously engaged other prominent politicians from different regions, stressing that the NDC’s structure remains open and nationally inclusive.
Allegation on Dickson and Obi NDC platform deal comes amid ongoing political discussions about emerging alliances ahead of the 2027 elections, as parties position themselves for a highly competitive electoral cycle.
Dickson also reaffirmed that both Peter Obi and Rabi’u Kwankwaso are recognised as central figures within the party’s presidential arrangement, adding that the NDC is working collectively towards electoral success.
