ADC Aspirants Reject Kano Primaries Over Alleged Irregularities

ADC aspirants in Kano reject party primaries, alleging irregularities and calling for national leadership investigation

A group of aspirants under the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Kano State have rejected the outcome of the party’s recent primaries, alleging that the exercise was marred by irregularities and a lack of transparency.

The aspirants raised the concerns during a press conference held in Kano on Tuesday, where they called on the national leadership of the party to urgently intervene and investigate the process.

Speaking through Alhaji Wada Masu, the group described the conduct of the primaries as inconsistent with internal democratic principles, insisting that the process undermined fairness and credibility within the party.

He said the timing of the exercise raised serious concerns, noting that aspirants were reportedly still undergoing screening on the same day the primaries were said to have been conducted.

Masu stated: “It is important to state clearly that on the same day the primary elections were said to have taken place, all aspirants were participating in the screening exercise. This development alone raises serious questions about the legitimacy and transparency of the exercise claimed to have been conducted.”

The aspirants further argued that an earlier invitation for a consensus meeting contradicted claims that a valid primary election had already taken place, describing the situation as confusing and procedurally flawed.

According to them, the inconsistencies point to deeper issues affecting internal democracy within the party and could damage its public credibility if left unresolved.

They appealed to the party’s national leadership to carry out a thorough investigation into the process in order to ensure fairness, justice, and adherence to due process.

Masu added that the group’s intention was not to target any individual but to protect democratic principles and safeguard the rights of party members.
