ACF Ex-Secretary Claims North Will Back Tinubu in 2027

Former ACF Secretary General Anthony Sani says the North may support Tinubu in 2027 ahead of Nigeria’s next presidential election

Former Secretary General of the Arewa Consultative Forum (ACF), Anthony Sani, has stated that the Northern region may support President Bola Tinubu in the 2027 presidential election.

Sani made the remarks on Wednesday during an interview with DAILY POST, where he discussed expected voting patterns ahead of the next general election.

According to him, political calculations in the North are influenced by long-term zoning expectations, with the region anticipating a return to the presidency in 2031.

He said President Bola Tinubu is likely to secure significant support from Northern voters based on this arrangement.

He stated: “President Bola Tinubu will get the majority votes in the North because the North is hoping to produce the President in 2031 after it has been in the South for eight years.”

Sani also commented on the South-East political alignment, suggesting that the region may strongly support Labour Party presidential candidate Peter Obi due to zoning considerations and regional political interests.

He added that the North may be reluctant to back Obi’s presidential ambition, questioning confidence in his pledge to serve only one term if elected.
