Atiku Abubakar Secures Deal with Hayatu-Deen After ADC Primary

Dino Melaye says Atiku Abubakar and Mohammed Hayatu-Deen have agreed to work together after the ADC presidential primary election

Former Kogi West Senator, Dino Melaye, has said that African Democratic Congress (ADC) presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, and fellow aspirant, Mohammed Hayatu-Deen, have agreed to work together following the party’s presidential primary election.

Melaye made the disclosure in a post on his official X account on Monday, suggesting a post-primary reconciliation effort within the opposition camp.

Atiku emerged winner of the ADC presidential primary after defeating former Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi, and Mohammed Hayatu-Deen.

However, both Amaechi and Hayatu-Deen had reportedly expressed dissatisfaction with the conduct of the election, raising concerns about the process.

In a move seen as part of reconciliation efforts, Atiku was said to have met separately with both former aspirants to seek their support ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Melaye wrote: “Atiku and Hayatudeen agree to work together to kick APC out.”

The development signals ongoing attempts to unite key figures within the ADC after a tense and highly competitive primary election.
