NDC inaugurates 21-member Selection Committee to review screening reports and finalise aspirants ahead of the upcoming general elections
The Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) will on Monday, May 25, 2026, inaugurate its 21-member Selection Committee as part of preparations for the forthcoming general elections.

The inauguration is scheduled to hold at 4:00 p.m. at the party’s National Secretariat, according to an official statement issued by the National Publicity Secretary, Osa Director, Esq.
The party said the committee was established following the successful completion of its screening exercise for governorship, National Assembly and State Houses of Assembly aspirants.
According to the statement, the newly inaugurated committee will be responsible for reviewing, scrutinising and considering reports submitted by both the National Screening Committee and State Houses of Assembly Screening Committees.
It added that the body will also take final decisions on the screening outcomes of all aspirants across various levels of elective positions.
The party emphasised that the committee’s work is central to ensuring transparency and credibility in the selection of candidates ahead of the general elections.
The 21-member committee will be chaired by the NDC National Chairman, Senator Moses Cleopas Zuwoghe.
Party officials stated that the initiative reflects the party’s commitment to internal democracy and a merit-based candidate selection process.
The structure, they noted, was designed in line with recommendations from the National Working Committee and approved by the party leadership.
The inauguration ceremony will be performed by the NDC National Leader, Senator Henry Seriake Dickson, who is expected to formally present the committee with its mandate.

The party described the development as part of ongoing efforts to position itself strongly ahead of the general elections by presenting credible and competitive candidates.
