The announcement, which confirms his entry into the 2027 gubernatorial race, was delivered through a formal statement issued by his former Press Secretary, Aminu Abubakar, in Sokoto.
The politician, who served a full tenure under the administration of former Governor Aminu Waziri Tambuwal, expressed his gratitude to the leadership and stakeholders of the ADC for the confidence placed in his candidacy.
He characterized his emergence as a monumental responsibility, pledging to dedicate his campaign to the restoration of unity, stability, and sustainable development across the state’s twenty-three local government areas.
Manir Muhammad Dan’iya specifically acknowledged the political guidance of his former principal, Aminu Waziri Tambuwal, noting that the support from various interest groups indicates a widespread desire for a new direction in Sokoto governance.
He asserted that his platform would prioritize inclusive leadership and the implementation of policies directly targeted at improving the welfare of the citizenry.
The selection process within the African Democratic Congress reportedly involved significant internal deliberation, as the party sought a candidate capable of challenging the current political status quo.
Manir Muhammad Dan’iya noted that the movement represents a shift toward more transparent governance, inviting youths, women’s groups, and political associates to join the effort to reshape the state’s future.
Before securing the ticket, the former Deputy Governor faced competition from a field of approximately ten aspirants who had expressed interest in the party’s nomination.
Among those reportedly considered for the role was the former Nigerian Ambassador to Jordan, Faruk Malami Yabo, highlighting the high level of interest in the ADC as an alternative political vehicle ahead of the next general elections.
In his concluding remarks, the candidate urged his supporters to maintain peace and decorum as consultations with various stakeholders intensify.
