APP Releases Expensive 2027 Primary Election Timetable

APP releases 2027 primary election timetable, announcing dates, fees, and guidelines for presidential, governorship, and legislative primaries

The Action Peoples Party has released its official timetable for the conduct of primary elections ahead of the 2027 general elections, following approval by the party’s National Working Committee in Abuja.

The announcement provides a detailed roadmap for aspirants across all levels of elective offices, signalling the formal commencement of pre-primary activities within the party structure.

According to the schedule, pre-primary activities began on May 6, 2026, with the publication of notices for primaries across all tiers of the party.

The sale and submission of nomination and expression of interest forms will run from May 6 to May 25, 2026, while the list of cleared aspirants is expected to be published on May 27, 2026.

The presidential primary election is scheduled to hold on May 27, 2026, at the party’s national headquarters at 12 noon.

Senatorial primaries will take place on May 29, 2026, at senatorial district headquarters between 12 noon and 5 pm, while House of Representatives primaries are also fixed for May 29, 2026, from 9 am to 12 noon at federal constituency headquarters.

Governorship primaries are slated for May 30, 2026, at state secretariats between 2 pm and 5 pm, with House of Assembly primaries also scheduled for May 30, 2026, at local government headquarters from 9 am to 12 noon.

The timetable was contained in a statement issued by the Imo State Publicity Secretary, Steve Nnadi, and made available to journalists in Owerri.

The party also released its approved fees for nomination and expression of interest forms across different elective positions.

Presidential aspirants are required to pay ₦17 million for nomination forms and ₦3 million for expression of interest. Governorship aspirants will pay ₦7 million and ₦3 million respectively.

Senatorial aspirants are pegged at ₦3 million for nomination and ₦2 million for expression of interest, while House of Representatives aspirants will pay ₦3 million and ₦1 million respectively.

For the House of Assembly, nomination forms cost ₦1 million with an additional ₦500,000 for expression of interest.

The party also announced free nomination forms for women and persons living with disabilities, describing the gesture as part of its commitment to inclusivity and broader democratic participation.

The timetable was jointly endorsed by the National Chairman, Barrister Uchenna Nnadi, and the National Secretary, Abu Ibrahim Bossan, at the party’s national secretariat in Abuja.
