Labour Party Nomination Rush as Aspirants Flood Secretariat

Labour Party nomination forms rush as aspirants flood national secretariat to meet 2027 election deadline for presidential and other positions

The National Headquarters of the Labour Party in Abuja has been overwhelmed by a surge of political aspirants scrambling to meet the deadline for nomination forms ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Labour Party nomination form crowd rush intensified on Tuesday as candidates from across the country stormed the party secretariat to secure tickets for various elective positions, including presidential, governorship, senatorial and federal constituency seats.

Among those who obtained nomination forms is Peter Agada, who is contesting the presidential ticket, alongside Gazo Jonathan Gbefwi, who is vying for the Nasarawa State governorship position.

Prince Chioma Chinwo is also among the aspirants seeking the Rivers State governorship ticket, while several others joined the growing list of contenders across legislative positions.

Labour Party spokesperson Ken Eluma Asogwa confirmed the influx of aspirants, noting that the national secretariat had witnessed heavy traffic as interested candidates rushed to beat the submission deadline.

According to him, the party has recorded applications from high-profile individuals and political newcomers alike, reflecting growing interest in the party’s platform ahead of the 2027 elections.

Among those who secured forms are Mrs Betty Anyanwu-Akeredolu, who is contesting the Imo East Senatorial District seat, as well as several House of Representatives and State Assembly aspirants from Adamawa, Delta and Benue States.

Others include Hassan Mamman Barguwa, Hon Dennis Chibuzor Oshai, Eric Edward, and Mohammed Hayatu Atiku, all vying for different legislative positions across the country.
