Enugu NDC internal crisis intensified following claims by Engr Ibuchukwu Obetta, who reportedly restated his position as chairman of the party in the state, a development the party swiftly rejected.
In a statement issued by the state Publicity Secretary, Emmanuel Ugwueze, the party dismissed Obetta’s claim, describing it as a misleading attempt to distort the established leadership structure of the NDC in Enugu State.
According to the party, the state congress conducted in line with the party constitution and the Electoral Act produced Dr Anih as the substantive chairman, with delegates drawn from all 17 local government areas participating.
NDC further stressed that its recently concluded National Convention effectively dissolved all interim and protem leadership arrangements, thereby confirming all elected officers as legitimate representatives at various levels.
Ugwueze maintained that leadership positions within the party can only be obtained through due democratic processes and not through self-declaration or media claims.
He also warned members and aspirants against making payments into personal accounts of individuals claiming to represent the party leadership, noting that such actions could amount to fraud.
