Rufai Oseni Issues Fierce Warning to NDC Ahead of 2027 Election

Rufai Oseni NDC scrutiny warning intensifies as Arise TV host demands clear manifesto and policy plans ahead of Nigeria’s 2027 elections

Rufai Oseni has issued a stern caution to the Nigerian Democratic Congress (NDC) and its prospective presidential candidate as political activity intensifies ahead of the 2027 general elections, insisting that the party must present a clear and actionable policy direction.

Speaking on Wednesday, Rufai Oseni stated that the NDC must urgently define its ideological stance and governance blueprint, stressing that political momentum alone is insufficient to earn public trust or electoral credibility.

Rufai put forward scrutiny warning comes amid rising defections into the emerging political platform, which has been gaining visibility in recent weeks as discussions around its presidential flagbearer continue.

Oseni emphasised that any presidential hopeful from the party, including former Anambra State governor Peter Obi, must be prepared to provide detailed answers on key national challenges, including foreign exchange management, subsidy policy, welfare systems and social investment programmes.

He noted that he intends to engage Peter Obi in an in-depth interview, adding that rigorous questioning would be necessary to test the strength of proposed economic and governance reforms.

According to Oseni, the NDC must move quickly to present a comprehensive manifesto, warning that failure to do so would attract strong public criticism.

His comments, delivered in a firm tone, underscored what he described as the urgency of credible policy articulation in Nigeria’s current political climate.

Serious warning has since sparked debate among political observers, many of whom say it reflects growing public demand for issue-based campaigning rather than personality-driven politics.

Oseni maintained that accountability and policy clarity would be central to his evaluation of any emerging political movement, stressing that national development cannot be built on vague promises or political excitement alone.

As the 2027 election cycle approaches, analysts say such public interrogations of political parties are likely to intensify, with media platforms playing a more assertive role in shaping electoral discourse.
