ADC Suspends Silas Onu Over Alleged Anti-Party Activities in Ebonyi

ADC Silas Onu suspension in Ebonyi State over alleged anti-party activities, misconduct, and impersonation as disciplinary committee is set up

The Ward Executive Committee of Obiozara in Ohaozara Local Government Area of Ebonyi State has suspended a party member, Mr Silas Onu, over alleged anti-party activities, gross misconduct, and violations of internal party discipline.

ADC Suspends Silas Onu was contained in a letter dated 22 April 2026 and signed by the Acting Chairman of Obiozara Ward, Mr Nwachukwu Peter Obinna, alongside Acting Secretary Akuma Martins.

According to the ward executives, the decision was taken in line with the constitution of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) and provisions of the Electoral Act 2026, which empower party structures to enforce discipline among members.

Silas Onu was handed a three-month suspension and is expected to appear before a seven-member disciplinary committee constituted to review the allegations against him.

The ward leadership accused Silas Onu of hijacking the national screening committee process, interfering with the electoral committee, and allegedly organising an illegal congress that they claim was designed to exclude legitimate party members.

They further alleged that the actions disrupted internal party processes and attempted to disenfranchise members who had obtained nomination forms for various positions.

The committee also accused Silas Onu of impersonation during the party’s national convention, alleging that he falsely presented himself as the Ebonyi State Chairman of the ADC, thereby misleading the national leadership and delegates.

According to the ward executives, the alleged conduct created parallel leadership structures within the party in Ebonyi State and contributed to internal division and instability.

He has been given 14 days from 22 April 2026 to appear before the disciplinary committee, with the ward stating that failure to do so will be interpreted as forfeiture of his right to defence.
