Udom Gabriel Emmanuel is a distinguished Nigerian technocrat and politician who served as the Governor of Akwa Ibom State from 2015 to 2023.
Born on July 11, 1966, he built a formidable career in the financial sector, rising to become an Executive Director at Zenith Bank Plc, where he gained extensive experience in corporate finance, strategic planning, and risk management.
His entry into public service began in July 2013 when he was appointed Secretary to the State Government under Governor Godswill Akpabio’s administration.
In 2014, Emmanuel successfully contested the Akwa Ibom governorship primary election under the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and went on to win the general election in 2015, securing a second term in 2019.
His administration focused on industrialization, aviation development, infrastructure, and human capacity building, aiming to diversify the state’s economy and improve living standards.
