APC Chairman Yilwatda Makes Bold Stability Claim

APC Chairman Yilwatda defends party strength and stability claims, criticises opposition, and outlines governance priorities in Abuja

National chairman of the All Progressives Congress, Nentawe Yilwatda, on Thursday, April 9, 2026, in Abuja, asserted that the ruling party remains the only tested political platform capable of delivering stability, progress and national renewal in Nigeria.

Speaking through a statement issued by his spokesperson, Abimbola Tooki, Yilwatda addressed concerns surrounding the country’s political and economic direction, stressing that Nigeria cannot afford uncertainty at a time he described as critical for democratic consolidation.

He maintained that the APC has built the institutional strength required to manage the complexities of governance in a diverse nation, adding that the party continues to focus on strengthening public trust and improving governance outcomes.

His remarks were framed as a defence of the party’s record and organisational capacity.

Yilwatda described the APC as a structured and enduring political organisation rather than a temporary coalition, arguing that its national reach and experience position it to respond effectively to the needs of citizens.

The comments reflected a confident tone as the party seeks to reinforce its image ahead of future electoral contests.

In a pointed critique of opposition parties, the APC chairman questioned their internal cohesion, suggesting that persistent internal disputes undermine their credibility.

He argued that any political platform struggling with internal management challenges would find it difficult to govern a country as complex as Nigeria.

He further emphasised that electoral victory, in the APC’s view, should be earned through public support rather than procedural or technical advantages.

According to him, legitimacy is strongest when derived from persuasion, performance and broad political engagement.

On matters of national security, Yilwatda described the ongoing trial of terrorism suspects as evidence of a system committed to the rule of law.

He noted that efforts to address insecurity must extend beyond military operations to include judicial processes and intelligence coordination.

He also referenced the administration of Bola Tinubu, stating that the government is pursuing a multi layered approach to tackling security challenges.

Turning to internal party affairs, Yilwatda called for discipline and unity among APC members in Osun State, urging clear communication and adherence to defined roles within campaign structures.

He stressed that organisational clarity would be essential in maintaining momentum ahead of upcoming elections.

He described Osun State as a significant political battleground and a critical indicator of the party’s preparedness ahead of the 2027 general elections, framing it as both a test of strength and organisational coordination.

Reaffirming the party’s broader outlook, Yilwatda said the APC remains committed to governance, national development and steady leadership.

He acknowledged that while the party is not without imperfections, it possesses the experience and structure required to steer the country forward with consistency and resolve.
