Nwifuru Warns APC Aspirants Over Poor Performance

Francis Nwifuru warns APC aspirants in Ebonyi that only candidates with visible achievements will be supported for 2027 elections

Ebonyi State Governor Francis Nwifuru on Wednesday, 2026, declared in Abakaliki that only aspirants with verifiable achievements in office will be supported to secure the All Progressives Congress, APC, ticket for the 2027 general elections, in a firm signal of stricter party standards ahead of the polls.

The governor, represented by the Ebonyi State APC Chairman, Chief Stanley Okoro Emegha, delivered the warning during the commissioning of constituency projects facilitated by the Deputy Chief Whip of the Senate and Senator representing Ebonyi North, Chief Peter Onyekachi Nwebonyi.

Governor Nwifuru stated that the APC would no longer endorse candidates without visible impact in their constituencies, stressing that performance will now serve as the primary yardstick for political support within the party structure.

He described the upcoming selection process as a critical moment of accountability, insisting that the party would avoid past errors and only present credible and result-driven candidates in the 2027 elections.

“The time for stock-taking has come, and only those with results and visible achievements will be considered again to fly our party’s tickets for the next general elections,” Nwifuru stated.

He added that individuals with no record of development in their constituencies should reconsider their political ambitions, warning that the party would not repeat what he described as previous electoral mistakes.

The development was described as a decisive and strategic move aimed at strengthening APC’s internal discipline and electoral competitiveness in Ebonyi State ahead of the 2027 polls.

In his remarks, Senator Nwebonyi said his constituency projects were designed to complement the developmental agenda of the state government, adding that he was committed to setting a benchmark in legislative representation.

He noted that his interventions across road construction, classroom blocks, and street lighting projects were driven by a desire to support grassroots development within Ebonyi North Senatorial District.

The projects commissioned and inspected during the visit included roads, school infrastructure, and solar-powered street lights, among others, reflecting ongoing efforts to improve public infrastructure in the state.
