NNPP Diaspora Stakeholder Defection sees Dr Usman Tijjani Shehu join APC, pledging support for Renewed Hope Agenda and 2027 elections
Dr Usman Tijjani Shehu, a prominent diaspora stakeholder in the New Nigeria Peoples Party and the Kwankwasiyya Movement, on Monday formally announced his defection to the All Progressives Congress in what he described as a NNPP Diaspora Stakeholder Defection driven by consultations and a renewed political alignment.

Dr Shehu stated that his decision followed wide engagements with political associates, supporters, and stakeholders both within Nigeria and across the diaspora.
He explained that the move was informed by a desire to contribute to national development, youth inclusion, and human capital growth in line with President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
Announcing his return to the ruling party, Dr Shehu said he and his supporters had resolved to rejoin the APC after what he described as rigorous consultations and strategic discussions.
He expressed confidence that the decision would allow him to contribute meaningfully to the party’s growth and future success.
As part of the NNPP Diaspora Stakeholder Defection, Dr Shehu pledged to mobilise both grassroots and diaspora support for the APC ahead of the 2027 general election.
He also assured party leaders of his loyalty, indicating his readiness to work at all levels to strengthen the party’s political base.
Dr Shehu, a United Kingdom based healthcare professional and community leader, holds the traditional title of Zannan Kabo in Kano State and Dan Isan Hausawan Turai, reflecting his influence within traditional institutions and diaspora networks.
His professional background as a physiotherapist specialising in musculoskeletal disorders and public health adds to his multifaceted profile.
He has worked with Aminu Kano Teaching Hospital in Kano and General Ahmadi Rimi Orthopaedic and Specialist Hospital in Katsina.
In addition, he serves as a director at Ozone Properties Ltd in Salford and has previously been active within APC structures in the United Kingdom, including leadership roles and participation in national youth programmes.
Dr Shehu contested the Gwarzo Kabo Federal Constituency seat in the 2023 general election under the NNPP platform.

With his latest political move, he urged his supporters at home and abroad to align with the APC, expressing optimism about the country’s political and economic direction under the current administration.
