The decision was reached during a high-level meeting attended by governorship aspirants, members of the National Assembly, and other key party stakeholders.

The adoption of the Nasarawa APC direct primary process will allow all registered party members across the state to participate in choosing the party’s flag bearer.

Governor Abdullahi Sule, who addressed the gathering, described the decision as a reflection of the collective will of party members and aligned with broader democratic principles being encouraged within the political landscape.

He emphasised that the process would be conducted transparently and in line with both the party’s constitution and the Electoral Act.

He further assured aspirants that the primary election would be free and fair, stressing that no candidate would have grounds to challenge the credibility of the exercise.

According to him, the party’s leadership is committed to ensuring unity and preventing post-primary disputes that could weaken its chances in the general elections.

In addition to the primary mode, stakeholders also deliberated on zoning arrangements, ultimately agreeing that the governorship ticket should be rotated to the Nasarawa West Senatorial Zone.
