Lagos APC Criticizes ADC Over Tinubu Birthday Message

Lagos APC criticizes ADC over its birthday message to President Tinubu, calling it toxic and a sign of opposition party decline

The Lagos State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has criticized the African Democratic Congress (ADC) over what it described as a hostile and inappropriate message sent to mark the birthday of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

The Lagos APC ADC controversy stems from a statement issued by the party’s spokesperson, Hon. Seye Oladejo, who accused the opposition party of displaying bitterness and lacking political maturity.

According to the APC, the ADC’s message reflects internal disarray and a failure to engage in constructive political discourse. The party argued that at a time when goodwill and civility are expected, the ADC chose what it called a confrontational tone.

The APC further claimed that the opposition party’s conduct signals deeper structural and leadership challenges, suggesting that it is struggling to maintain relevance in Nigeria’s political landscape.

In its response, the ruling party urged the ADC to focus on strengthening its internal organization and repositioning itself as a credible opposition capable of offering alternative policies rather than engaging in criticism perceived as unproductive.

The statement also referenced examples of civility from other institutions, suggesting that political actors should demonstrate empathy and restraint, even in moments of disagreement or tension.

The Lagos APC maintained that it remains focused on governance and delivering its mandate, while dismissing what it described as distractions from opposition parties.
