PDP rejects Tinubu endorsement as faction calls move immoral ahead of 2027 elections and ongoing reconciliation talks

The faction’s National Publicity Secretary, Ini Ememobong, made the statement on Thursday during an appearance on The Morning Show on Arise Television.
Ini Ememobong said it would be improper for a major opposition party to support the presidential ambition of a ruling party candidate.
The spokesman stressed that the PDP must maintain its identity as a credible opposition force rather than assume a subordinate role.
He expressed optimism that ongoing reconciliation talks within the party would be guided by reason and strengthen its internal structure.
The PDP rejects Tinubu endorsement stance comes as efforts intensify to resolve the party’s internal crisis ahead of its national convention scheduled for March 29 and 30.
Tanimu Turaki confirmed that fresh reconciliation talks had begun, noting that discussions were already yielding encouraging progress.
The former minister said stakeholders were mindful of electoral timelines and the need to present a united front before the 2027 general elections.
He added that his faction was willing to make significant concessions to restore unity within the party.
According to Tanimu Turaki, all pending legal disputes could be withdrawn once an agreement is reached among the factions.
