Zack Orji said the Zack Orji Tinubu Most Qualified position was based on what he described as the president’s competence, reform-focused leadership, and commitment to inclusivity.
The actor pointed to Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s tenure as governor of Lagos as a defining example of that approach.
“I am an Igbo man. I supported Tinubu because, among the three presidential candidates, to me, he was the most qualified in terms of competence and capacity to carry out necessary reforms,” Zack Orji said.
Zack Orji added that one of the key factors that influenced his decision was the inclusion of Igbo professionals in Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s cabinet during his time as governor.
According to Zack Orji, that record demonstrated a belief in national unity beyond ethnic lines.
“It tells you that this is somebody who believes in inclusivity, someone who believes in the Nigerian project regardless of your ethnic background. As long as you are competent, he will bring you in to work with him,” Zack Orji said.
The actor further described Bola Ahmed Tinubu as a standout figure among his peers for mentoring individuals across different ethnic backgrounds, calling it a powerful example of leadership.
Zack Orji’s remarks reflect a consistent position. In 2022, ahead of the official campaign season, Zack Orji publicly declared support for Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s presidential ambition during a political meeting.
Bola Ahmed Tinubu, who won the 2023 presidential election under the All Progressives Congress, was sworn in on 29 May 2023.
The administration has since introduced a series of economic reforms, including the removal of fuel subsidies and changes to the foreign exchange system, policies that have drawn mixed reactions across the country.
