ADC Chieftain Sparks Controversy With Explosive PDP Claim

ADC PDP branch in APC claim made by Simon Achuba sparks debate as he alleges internal political overlap ahead of the 2027 elections

A chieftain of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Simon Achuba, on Monday, 2026, ADC made a controversial assertion that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) effectively operates a “branch” within the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), a remark that has stirred political debate ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Simon Achuba claimed that despite APC’s dominance in terms of state governors and political structure, Nigerians remain largely detached from the ruling party’s influence, suggesting a deeper level of political realignment within the system.

The ADC chieftain alleged that internal contradictions exist within the APC, stating that individuals within the party continue to align with opposition interests, a situation he described as evidence that “the PDP has a branch in APC.”

He argued that the ADC PDP branch in APC claim reflects what he sees as fluid political loyalties, insisting that such alignments weaken clear party distinctions as Nigeria approaches another election cycle.

In the same interview, Achuba maintained that the APC’s political strength is overstated, stressing that electoral outcomes ultimately depend on voter sentiment rather than the number of governors aligned to the ruling party.

Meanwhile, Imo State Governor and Chairman of the Progressive Governors Forum, Hope Uzodinma, addressed journalists after a meeting in Lagos on Sunday, dismissing speculation of zoning adjustments ahead of the APC national convention.

Hope Uzodinma stated that the party’s existing zoning arrangements would remain intact, noting that the President and Vice President currently retain their positions under the established framework.

He further clarified that the upcoming convention is not for primaries, adding that electoral primaries would be conducted separately by the Independent National Electoral Commission.
