Bukola Saraki and Governor Bala Mohammed will lead the PDP Reconciliation Committee to resolve party disputes ahead of the 2027 elections
Former Senate President Bukola Saraki and Bauchi State Governor Bala Mohammed have been appointed to lead a reconciliation committee aimed at resolving the internal crisis within the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
The move follows a prolonged dispute that erupted after the party’s National Convention in Ibadan on November 15–16, 2025. The convention, endorsed by PDP governors including Bala Mohammed and Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde, produced Tanimu Turaki (SAN) as national chairman.

However, a faction led by Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, rejected the outcome, forming a parallel National Working Committee under Abdulrahman Mohammed.
A Court of Appeal later nullified the Ibadan convention, prompting the Board of Trustees, chaired by former Senate President Adolphus Wabara, to spearhead reconciliation efforts.
According to a source close to the Turaki faction, a seven-member committee met on March 17 to outline their demands before engaging Wike’s faction. Bala Mohammed is expected to lead the Turaki side, while Saraki will represent Wike’s group.

The two committees are scheduled to meet after the Sallah festivities to harmonise positions, which will then be submitted to the Court of Appeal in Ibadan for ratification.
The agreement reached by the committees will be binding on all PDP members, signalling a possible end to the internal divisions ahead of the 2027 elections.
