NMIM Urges Goodluck Jonathan to Lead Nigeria Again

NMIM Middle Belt urges former President Jonathan to lead in 2027 amid insecurity, poverty, and economic hardship

The call, made at the conclusion of a strategic meeting, highlighted the urgent need for experienced and stabilising leadership to address worsening national challenges.

In a communiqué jointly signed by Hon. Pastor Peter Hassan, National Leader, and Dr. Blessing Eliagu, Secretary, NMIM expressed concern over rising insecurity, economic hardship, and deteriorating living conditions across Nigeria, particularly in the Middle Belt.

“Nigeria is currently facing a critical moment marked by widespread poverty, hunger, and persistent insecurity across several communities,” the statement read.

“Millions of Nigerians are struggling daily to secure basic meals, and while infrastructure development is important, it does not immediately address this urgent crisis.”

The organisation described Jonathan as a credible and experienced statesman whose tenure reflected humility, respect for democratic principles, and commitment to national unity.

NMIM believes his return could restore hope, rebuild trust in governance, and implement policies that directly alleviate economic suffering.

The movement also highlighted the importance of power rotation to maintain national balance and political stability, stressing that its appeal is motivated by concern for citizens’ wellbeing rather than partisan interests.

“Nigeria requires a national reset one that focuses on human welfare, economic recovery, and national cohesion. Silence in the face of current suffering is not an option,” the communiqué added.
