Rotimi Amaechi Registers With ADC Amid Office Arson

Rotimi Amaechi registers with ADC in Rivers State, urging peace after the party office in Ubima was set ablaze by unknown attackers

Former Rivers State governor Rotimi Amaechi has officially registered as a member of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), completing the process at Ward 8 in Ubima Local Government Area on Friday, 6 March 2026.

The registration came just hours after the ADC office in the community was set ablaze by unknown persons, causing panic among residents who woke up to find part of the party’s premises destroyed.

Addressing supporters who gathered to welcome him, Amaechi urged calm and discouraged any form of violence.

“Don’t be violent because violence may lead to the death of somebody don’t be violent. At the same time, they can’t stop us from meeting in our community,” he said.

He also praised security agencies for their professionalism in response to the incident, particularly the Commissioner of Police and the Director of the Department of State Services.

“In fact, I wasn’t expecting that from them; I thought they would be behind the criminals,” he added.

Amaechi called on security operatives to thoroughly investigate the attack and bring those responsible for the burning of the ADC office in Ubima to justice.
