Ekere noted that previous congresses in the state were often marred by violence, disputes, and internal wrangling.
The 2026 exercise, however, demonstrated growing internal democracy and institutional strength within the party.
“What we witnessed is a clear indication that our party is maturing politically. When leaders and stakeholders come together to agree on a consensus, it saves the party from unnecessary acrimony and strengthens our unity,” Ekere said.
He attributed the success of the congress to the collaborative efforts of Governor Umo Eno and Senate President Godswill Akpabio, who helped ensure a harmonious process.
The State Working Committee (SWC), led by Obong Stephen Leo Ntukekpo, was unanimously adopted without disputes. Other members of the new executive committee include:
- Aniekan Ekpo – Deputy State Chairman
- Envoy Nsentip Akpabio – Secretary
- Barr. Kemfon Neke – Treasurer
- Barr. Victor Akpan – Organising Secretary
- Patrick Edeke – Publicity Secretary
- Obonganwan Obonodo Uko – State Woman Leader
- Clement Awakessien – State Youth Leader
